Liam Delves joins by Team IMR for remainder of 2018

In News by Team IMR will revert back to a two-man squad for the remainder of the 2018 season with Liam Delves contesting the final three rounds of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship for the Isle of Man-based team.

The Birmingham rider will make the step up from the HEL Performance British Motostar Championship and will campaign a Yamaha YZF-R6 – built by Josh Brookes’ crew chief Stewart Winton – for the first time at the final three rounds of the Superstock series at Silverstone, Oulton Park and Brands Hatch.

The 18-year old started racing in Minimotos in 2007, winning the British Championship a year later, and after taking second overall in the 2012 Metrakit GP 70 Championship, he became Formula 125 Champion in both 2013 and 2014.

The following year, he made the jump into the HEL Performance British 125cc Championship taking seven podiums in total and that paved the way into the HEL Performance British Motostar Championship where he’s been ever since.

2016 saw him claim tenth overall in the Moto 3 Standard class with podiums coming at Thruxton, Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park whilst last year saw him join the Stauff Connect Academy team where he finished in joint ninth overall in the main Moto3 GP class when he scored no less than 13 top ten finishes.

Delves continued with the team for 2018 and although he currently sits in 12th place in the Moto 3 GP Championship after taking six top ten finishes, including a best result of seventh at Knockhill, he’s now decided the time is right to take his first steps in the four-stroke category and is relishing the opportunity given to him by by Team IMR.

Liam Delves:
“I am so excited to be joining by Team IMR and am really looking forward to a new challenge on the 600. It’s going to be a whole new learning curve for me, which I know isn’t going to be easy, but I will work hard on and off track to meet the teams’ expectations. I would like to thank Ian Moffitt and everyone at by Team IMR for this great opportunity as well as Borley’s Minimix , Bassett Cleansing, Dunsly Heat, Yorkshire Office Furniture, Oxford Products, Scott Leathers, Knox Armour, Vroom Media and all my other loyal sponsors and followers for their continued support.”

Ian Moffitt, Team Manager:
“We’ve signed Liam Delves for the rest of the year with a long term view of helping to develop a talented rider through the classes. He’s a good lad and after he decided to leave his previous team we thought it was a good opportunity to work with a talented rider. This wouldn’t have happened without our main sponsors, and Liam’s sponsors Bassett Cleansing, Borley’s Mini Mix and Yorkshire Office Furniture.”

The next round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship takes place at Silverstone, Northants on September 7-9.
