Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship, final round “wasn’t the way I wanted to finish my season”

 In News

Liam Delves was at Brands Hatch for the final race of the 2018 riding for Quinnstheprinters.com by Team IMR in the Superstock 600 championship but the weather disrupted the racing on Sunday and Delves was forced to retire with a technical problem just four laps into the 12 lap race.

It was the first time for Delves at Brands Hatch on the Team IMR Yamaha R6 and he spent the free practice sessions getting comfy on the bike and looking for a good set up ahead of qualifying where he secured a fifth row grid position for the start of the 12 lap race on Sunday morning.

But heavy rain greeted the riders on Sunday and although it had diminished to drizzle by the time the race got underway the track was still wet and greasy.

As the race got underway Liam completed the first lap in 15th place but it soon became clear he had a problem as he dropped back a place on lap two and was down in 19th on lap three before pulling into the pits to retire with a technical problem with the Yamaha.

Delves said: “It wasn’t the way I wanted to finish my season but it is what it is. I am disappointed, not just for myself but for the team and my sponsors who have supported me in this new venture.”

The team were pleased with Liam’s performance over the last few races and had some very kind words for Liam and his family in their recent press release.

Liam will be seeking a ride for next season in the Superstock 600 championship and although he has nothing on the table at the moment he will be talking to team managers in the coming months to secure his future in the championship.
