Liam takes fourth in Pirelli National Superstock 600 at Brands Hatch
Liam Delves rode to his best result of the season at Brands Hatch in the fourth round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 when he recorded a fourth place finish to his race. To pick up 13 championship points which place him 13th in the overall rider standings.
The 18-year-old rider had been on the pace throughout free practice and qualifying and earned himself a second row start to Sunday’s 14 lap race. But come Sunday morning a heavy shower of rain had soaked the track and conditions were tricky.
As the lights went out Liam found himself swallowed up in the pack down in ninth position but he took his time to find his race pace and began to make his move forward on lap five.
By lap nine he was up to fifth place and then passed championship leader Aaron Clifford to settle into fourth position on lap 10. He maintained fourth place through the final four laps to cross the finish line for his best ever result in the class.
Liam commented: “Well what a weekend at Brands Hatch with Team VMR; starting from the second row my aim was to try and hang on to the leading group but in sketchy conditions I found myself in the middle of the pack down in ninth place. But I stayed relaxed and got comfortable then started to move forward; I felt I had a good pace so kept my head down and started to move forward and I ended the race in fourth position.”
“Thank you to all my Team for putting a mega Kawasaki ZR6R together with great settings all weekend plus all my loyal sponsors and friends that support me.”
The next round is at Knockhill in Scotland over the weekend of June 28/30.
