Oulton Park sees Liam take two 7th places for valuable points
Liam Delves was at Oulton Park over the weekend for round nine and ten of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 championship where he recorded a brace of seventh places in his two races to move up to eighth in the rider standings on 77 points.
After qualifying ninth on Saturday Liam began the first race from a third row grid position but didn’t get the best of starts and dropped a place to 11th on the opening lap. But he got his head down and passed Simon Reid to take up 10th place on lap two. One of the front runners crashed on lap six which elevated him up to ninth and then he moved further forward to seventh one lap later. Delves remained in seventh place through the remainder of the laps to pick up nine championship points and a place on the third row of the grid for race two on Sunday.
As the second race got underway on Sunday afternoon once again Delves got a poor start and dropped to 11th on the opening lap. But he passed James Alderson on lap two to move into the top 10. He then made further progress to ninth on lap four and by lap eight he was up into eighth position. With three laps remaining he passes Louis Valleley to move up to seventh place where he stayed to the chequered flag to pick up a further nine championship points.
Liam commented: “Seventh is not where I wanted to be as I feel I was capable of being nearer the front but it is what it is and I have picked up some points which move me up to eighth overall so happy enough. Thank you to my sponsors for their continued support and also my team for their hard work as the bike was in perfect condition as always.”
The Stock 600 class does not go to Assen with the rest of the classes so the next round is at Donington Park over the weekend of October 4/6.
