Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship, Donington Park report
Liam Delves paid his second visit of the season to Donington Park for the penultimate round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 championship where, despite some technical issues with the Team VMR Kawasaki ZX6R he brought the bike home in a strong ninth position.
Qualifying didn’t quite go to plan for Delves but nonetheless he was able to bag a third row start to his race and said; “Qualifying today didn’t go as well as I hoped as I encountered a small technical issue but I managed to get on the third row in eighth place for the race tomorrow.”
As the race got underway Delves didn’t get the best of starts and was boxed in at Redgate which caused him to lose places back to 14th. But he soon settled into his race and began to make his move forward, passing Connor Thomson on lap two.
A three rider crash on lap five brought the course car out for a few laps to allow the track to be cleared of debris and Delves was moved up the order to 10th. On lap 12 he passed Kevin Keyes to take up ninth place but was too far away from the group ahead and crossed the finish line in a safe ninth place at the end of the 14 lap affair.
Liam said: “It was an eventful race today and I finished up in ninth. Unfortunately, I was still unable to get rid of the technical issue with my bike but the positives from the weekend are more points in the bag and I have moved up to joint seventh in the rider standings. I have to say a huge thank you to my team for another great weekend and everyone that came along to support me.”
The final round of the Stock 600 championship is at Brands Hatch over the weekend of October 18/20.
